What is Qi?

“When one knows that the Great Void is full of Qi, one realizes that there is no such thing as nothingness.”

“In its original state of Great Vacuity, material force (Qi) is absolutely tranquil and formless.

As it is acted upon, it engenders the two fundamental elements of Yin and Yang, and through integration gives rise to forms.”

– Chang Tsai (A.D. 1020-1077)

Qi or Chi is a voluminous label. Throughout time and in every culture, it has been recognized and designated as Universal Life Force, Ki, Prana, Vital Force, Mana, living Ether, E’lan Vital and Innate Intelligence, etc. Everything in our world consists of vibrating Qi particles that continually interact with each other, connecting all life. Yin and Yang are the two primal energies of the Universe; the five elements are physical manifestations of Qi.

There are three types of Qi:

Cosmic Qi - Natural Forces emanating from the cosmos descending from the Stars, Planets, and Sun and Moon.

Earthly Qi - Emnantes from the earth and its life force that most directly affects us. It is produced by mountains, oceans, rivers, valleys, deserts, more currently building materials, etc.

Human Qi - Flows within each of us in its way throughout the meridian system. Each person has their own unique Qi.

Applying the Principles of Feng Shui enables the practitioner to manipulate the Qi in our environment to support health and well-being, just as the Acupuncturist or Energy Medicine practitioner influences the Qi within the body through the Meridian System or Subtle Anatomy (Human Biofiofield).
